Delegation from NSG visited JNG for ammonia-based desulfurzation technology

JNG | 29 July, 2018

On July 29, 2018, guests from the U.S. Northern Star Generation and a technical expert from Trimeric visited our Wanhua ultra-low emission project, Guizhou Tianfu project and Ningmei coal-to-oil project. On July 31, Ms. Luo Jing, President of the JNG China and Dr. Sun Fengge, Vice president of JNG China, held a very positive and productive meeting with the U.S. delegation, on matters of cooperation in Nanjing.

Northern Star Generation LLC ("NSG") is a private power generation company dedicated to providing reliable service to its customers. NSG, founded in early 2004, is owned jointly by Archmore International Infrastructure Fund and affiliates of Harbert Power, LLC and the California Public Employees' Retirement System ("CalPERS"). NSG owns two coal-fired power plants which use waste coal as fuel located in Cambria and Colver, Pennsylvania, the United States.

President Luo Jing welcomed the U.S. delegation and conveyed the cordial greetings from Mr. Xu Junsheng, the Chairman of JNG. During the meeting, Mr. Robin Chew, Director of Financial Analysis at NSG, said that Cambria and Colver are mainly using waste coal as fuel, spraying calcium inside furnace for desulfurization, however, the operating conditions are not stable. Currently, they are facing huge environmental pressure from the local government. Therefore, they have to complete the installation of the desulfurization unit by the second half of 2020 to meet the emission regulations.

President Luo said that JNG's ammonia-based desulfurization technology can not only meet the most stringent environmental emission regulations in the United States, but also obtain great operating economic benefits by using high-sulfur coal as fuel. In addition, the Federalgovernment is requiring zero discharge of desulfurization waste water. JNG's ammonia-based desulfurization technology has no discharge of waste water, solid waste, and additional CO2, which can help many U.S. power plants avoid huge wastewater treatment construction and operation costs.

During the meeting, both parties had in-depth exchanges on concerned technical and commercial issues. Mr. Robin Chew hopes to further promote the application of JNG's technology in their two power plants.

After the meeting, Mr. Robin Chew presented JNG a statue of an eagle with the native American characteristics on behalf of NSG, which symbolizes the win-win cooperation for both parties and JNG's further great achievements on the global market.
