| Dr. Sun obtained a bachelor's degree in chemical process equipment from Sichuan University (formerly known as Chengdu University of Science and Technology) in July 1990; obtained a master's degree in chemical process equipment from Tianjin University in July 1993; and a doctorate in chemical engineering from Tianjin University in October 1997. |
| From 1997 to 2010, he served as director of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Planning Institute and engaged in national-level chemical industry planning and consulting. |
| Dr. Sun is a member of the China Electrical Engineering Society, the Sixth Council of the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association, and the Fifth Director of the China National Chemical Environmental Protection Association. |
